Hope matters
A message on healing, hope and cohesive communities
“Acts of terrorism are designed to affect the whole of society by creating fear and division. While governments are charged with creating cohesive and inclusive communities, every individual has the ability and responsibility to positively contribute.
Immediately following a terrorist event, our first priority must be to care for the wounded and the bereaved. This care must continue over time as physical injuries may heal, but the psycho‑emotional impact is often lifelong.
In the wake of a terrorist event, it is important that we, as a community, take thoughtful action to support unity and collective healing. We can choose to turn away from hate, mistrust, resentment, and revenge — instead choosing goodwill and acts of kindness. These choices strengthen any counter‑terrorism measures taken by a government, as they show unity and resistance to the forces that seek to divide.”
